The Museum Of Folk Architecture And Rural Life, AKA Shevchenkivskyi Hai is a real ethno-park, situated among the scenic forest hills in the area called Kaiserwald or Lviv Plateau, encompassing nearly 84 hectares. This unique open-air museum features historical architecture divided into 6 ethnographic sectors and was named to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2004.
What’s In the Museum?
The Museum Of Folk Architecture And Rural Life is literally a small village, containing from 10 to 20 different architectural monuments – including churches, farmsteads, village houses, a working blacksmith shop, and more – the oldest of them dates from 1749. It features a collection of ethnographic items including clothing, furniture, musical instruments, ceramics, jewelry, and religious iconography and boasts a number ethnic crafts workshops, including bee keeping, embroidery, and Pysanka writing that visitors can participate in.
